Cathodic protection is an electrochemical technique used to prevent corrosion. It helps to protect underground and water steel constructions (i.e. pipelines, storage tanks) and metal reinforcement bars in concrete structures.

The main purpose of cathodic protection is the minimization of corrosion processes on the steel surface achieved thanks to negative polarization of its electrochemical potential with DC power of appropriate value delivered from an external power source.
